This was great and so easy! I didn't have turnips, so I used some purple potatoes. I also started this a bit late in the day, so I put the slow cooker on high for one hour and then on low for another 3-4 hours. My husband cannot wait until I make it again.

Christi you can use ox tail in place of eal shanks. Oxtail is a litle cheaper than veal and is very good in soups and stews

I can't wait to try this recipe. I just watched Sandra make it on the show and she used red wine, which makes sense because red would go better with veal and would give it the deeper color and flavor. The recipe should be corrected to show correct wine.

e tried this recipe after seeing it on the show - - for Company. It was such a hit! Very flavorful and enjoyed by all. I was nervous since I had not made the dish before, but was Very Pleased with the outcome. We used the white wine as stated in one part of the recipe, because that's the bottle that was open. This one goes in the favorite recipe book!

This recipe has awesome flavor! The gravy was thick and rich and full of flavor. I would think you could use either white or red wine, it's to your liking! I used white wine and it was wonderful. We will definitely make this again.

The recipe needs to be reviewed and revised. It says white one place and red another.
