Very good! I also tried it with sweetened cooked apple slices and canned cherry pie filling with OJ for liquid. I did as suggested, putting several layers of paper towels under the lid. 5 hours on low.

Sandra really hit this one out of the park!

I made the buckle for the first time this morning, using one can of apple pie filling, pure vanilla extract, a 4-pack of Delmonte No Sugar Added Diced Pears undrained, a box of Pillsbury Sugar Free Classic Yellow Cake Mix, a pack of cinnamon and spice oatmeal, and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. I did not use almonds or any other nut.

I put the ingredients in the crockpot, covered it with paper towels/lid, cooked it on low for 5 hours, and the buckle turned out PERFECTLY! I really don't see how anyone can mess this up IF they follow the directions. This is as easy as it gets. Trust me, if I can pull off a flawless buckle, anybody can! I topped it with fat-free Cool Whip instead of ice cream...DELICIOUS!!!

Oh boy! What to say? I made this throughout the recent holiday season and everytime it was a HIT. The real part that takes it to another level is the whipped cream. The dish in itself is very rich because of the butter an the whipped cream gives it a lighter taste. It's really great if you have a potluck at work (like I did. I brought in my slow cooker and added the ingredients and while I worked, it cooked. Then, after our 2am (we are night shift potluck dinner, we had a warm treat waiting for us! YUM! YUM! YUM! Oh...and if you cook it a little over to where the edges get crispy....uhmmm!

LOVED IT!!! i made it with apple pie filling instead of cherry because my husband is not a big fan of cherry and it was delicious!!! it was so good that my husband said next time try it with cherry! he's not a big fan of desserts but he loved this stuff!! and to crockqueen you do not drain the pears and on the show she said do not raise the lid to look at it for at least 3 hours...we tried it at 5 hours and then again at 6 and it was good at 5 hours but perfect at 6!!

Wish I knew how to tell when it was done AND if the pears were supposed to be drained I would have liked that included in the directions - probably makes a big difference in the outcome. I followed the exact directions which did not say to drain them - hope it comes out good!

Easy dessert. Very sweet and I am a sweet tooth, so that says a lot. It does serve about 6-8 people. We topped it with ice cream. I had the same problem as another reviewer. I followed the recipe exactly other than I used strawberry filling and canned pears instead of cherry filling. and the cake mix ended up VERY dense like it didn't bake at all. I used a wide oval crock pot. I didn't mix the batter or anything. However, it WAS SOOOOOO SWEET AND YUMMY.

This was delicious!! To those of you saying the cake is not cooking; you are not supposed to mix the cake batter you just pour the dry cake mix on top. I think that is why it isn't baking. Yum Yum YUMMM
