I friend brought this cookie dough to a cookie baking party/swap. The dough looked and smelled wonderful, but the finished product was disappointing....balls flattened out to a very thin sugar cookie and if there was a chunk of peppermint in the middle, it melted leaving a HOLE in the cookie....Fortunately, they tasted great so none went to waste but I would not call them snowballs at all! Perhaps a shortbread recipe with peppermint oil and crushed candies would hold up better to the shape of a ball.

These were not balls at all - I should have read the reviews prior to making them...another bad cookie recipe from this site.

I'm not quite sure why I didn't heed the advice of the numerous reviews about this recipe, but it was awful. As most every other reviewer points out, the cookies go flat and do not come close to resembling a ball shape.

Don't most experienced bakers know that the majority of sugar cookie recipes, namely pre-packaged, will most always result in a flat cookie?

In this case, to ensure a ball-shaped cookie, a shortbread cookie base is the way to go.

And most of all, if you're reading these reviews and still considering trying the recipe (like I was... DON'T!

It would be preferable for Food Network to more thoroughly review Sandra's recipes since so many fall FLAT!

Wish I'd read the reviews before starting. This isn't a snowball at all. Also wish I'd used parchment paper with my first batch. Scrape, scrape, scrape. Would chilling the dough again help?

Don't waste your time! I wish I had read other people's reviews before making these. They come out looking nothing like the picture...they are flat and sad looking. And the taste is worse! I threw the whole batch away! Shame on you food network!

This recipe was awful! I followed the directions to a "t", and the results were a flat, gooey mess! On top of that, I couldn't get the sticky mess off of my sheet! My hubby loved the flavor, but what a disappointment! I was so upset that I ruined a whole tube of sugar cookie dough:( I love Sandra Lee, too! She's one of my fave cooks! I'm not sure what happened in the test kitchen, but it appears I was not the only one with poor results. I do hope they pull this from the "spotlight" cookies, because there is clearly something wrong with the recipe.

Well, the name of this caught my eye "snowballs". These cookies were very easy to make. . . and they taste pretty good. However, they are far from being balls. I followed the directons exactly , but they flattened out while cooking, and are wafer thin.

I have made "ball" cookies before without any problems so I know it can be done. We will not be making these again

My mom & I were planning our annual baking and wanted to incorporate a non-chocolate cookie! This one sounded great...and looked good! But I guess I should have read the other comments. These cookies flatened out, stuck to a greased pan so tried a stone...and stuck to the stone. I don't know, something isn't quite right with this receipe. We were disappointed that we bought the ingredients and wasted not only our money but time. Bummer.

I guess on a positive note, they did taste okay!

Lets face it Sandra's recipies are for those who want to put no effort into their cooking. The show sells pre-packaged ingredients.... not for cooks, or bakers, or anyone other than those who put no effort into the kitchen.
