We get kind of chicken recipes, so I substituted petite sirloin sliced instead. I did everything else the same. It was wonderfully tastey and even my husbands new favorite sandwich!!

I always try any new recipe I find that has basil in it. This was wonderful and I will make it again. To Sharon from San Acacio I don't think there is a double standard at all. You can watch what you want and use the recipes you want. I think you are just a complainer. Sometimes I cook from scratch, sometimes semi homemade and there are also times I try to be very economical. I think you need to grow up and why are you even on here SINCE YOU DON"T WATCH!!!!

We made this yesterday for a casual lunch party with friends, & they were delicious. The chicken was so moist & flavorful. We used provolone cheese, both spinach & arugula, bread that we made from scratch, & accidentally forgot to include basil leaves. The paninis were still delicious!

If you really wanted to cut costs, you could raise your own chickens, bake the ciabatta from scratch, grow the veggies yourself, etc. But if you're as unconcerned with Sandra's "double standards" as I am, then just relax and follow the recipe. It's one of her better ones.

Aunt Sandy extolls the virtues of prepared foods in this show and then tells us on her other show that these are very expensive and we can save a lot of money making things from scratch ourselves, (the pesto in this recipe, for example. Even the chicken tenders instead of cutting your own from a breast. What a complete 180, sending mixed messages everywhere! And the Food Network execs. are every bit as responsible as she is! I really cannot understand why no one else has seemed to notice this double standard and I won't watch either show for this reason. Maklle up your minds, Sandra and Food network!! Things don't work both ways.

I used pre-cooked italian chicken strips to save time. Since the chicken was already seasoned, i cut back some on the pesto & mayo. It came out great!! Thanks Sandra!

So delicious, I had my parents over and my mom is a great cook and she raved about them. Even the kids gave them thumbs up and asked for me to make them again. Very easy to make.

I go to this recipe over and over. We love it.
I cut back a bit on the mayo...otherwise I make it exactly as Sandra does.
    It's delish!
