The canned pears turned out very mealy after being poached. It might be better with fresh ones. Don't think they are in season, though.

Canned pears are by definition already poached. Cooking them again turns them to mush. Okay if you're trying to make baby food, but if that's the case I recommend leaving out the wine.

Refreshing! You must use a good brand name canned pear or they will turn very soft. Love pears and love this recipe!
