I served this turkey for our family Thanksgiving Dinner. Even the picky eaters loved it. Easy to prepare, very moist and what a wonderful aroma in the house!! I could not find the Garlic Herb Sauce mix for the butter, so I used garlic powder and a dry herb mix. Will use this recipe again.

I typically enjoy Sandra Lee's recipes, they are a staple in my recipe box. So, after seeing this on her Thanksgiving special, I thought it should be great. I didn't care for the taste, it is not your typical turkey flavor. The herbs & poultry seasoning are a little strong. However, if you like a strong flavored meat, then this is for you. The one problem I had w/the butter was it wouldn't stick to my turkey skin, so make sure that it is good & hard before you attempt to spread it. Most of it stuck to my hands.

I'm puzzled by the previous results with greasy skin. The turkey has a very crispy, tasty skin and the herb combo made my house smell wonderful while cooking. The bird was delicious. I wonder if oven temp had something to do with the other's failure. I'm doing it this way from now on.

I used this recipe down a college on a 13lbs bird and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. I cooked the bird at 325 for 3 hours versus 450, which seems far too hot, and it was moist and delicious even after being out of the oven for almost an hour. The skin softened a bit, but had I carved it sooner, I'm sure it would've been crispy. I added extra garlic powder and some other herbs since the butter didn't seem strong enough, but it ended up being ok, eveyone loved it!

The soft flabby skin from this recipe is a real turn-off. I'll make my turkeys the regular way from now on.

I did an early Thanksgiving Dinner for a group of family and friends who were all going out of town . I tried this recipe and thought it was excellent! I am surprised that other people said that the skin was soggy. I don't see how that is possible! Perhaps their ovens do not function correctly. The turkey was moist and had a wonderful herb flavor. I had 16 guests and all said it was the best bird they've had. I had a 28 lb turkey and had NONE left , so I must have done something right. The gravy was also wonderful, although I always make good gravy so I didn't follow the recipe for that.

The skin was flabby and soft and not crispy at all. I think this recipe calls for too much butter or the oven is not hot enough. WILL NOT use for TGiving!
