On a show I saw recently Sandra Lee made a point of saying that you have to blot the shrimp right away so the dish doesn't become greasy. Also maintaining the temp. at 375o is important so that the shrimp doesn't absorb as much oil during the frying process.

I made this years ago and I still remember how delicious this was! Definitely make sure to either put the sauce on the shrimp right before serving or use it as a dipping sauce.

We made this as a joke - just to see if it was as bad as people say. It wasn't. It was worse. Greasy and odd-tasting. The shrimp came out rubbery as well. I'd use raw shrimp next time and not mix them into the sauce. Use the sauce as a dipping sauce.

I couldn't find Tempura batter mix or Szechuan seasoning so I made a few substitutions. First, I found a tempura batter mix on another Web site and followed it exactly. I made the sauce as Sandra specified, but used Szechuan sauce instead of a dry seasoning. After I fried the shrimp and bathed them in the sauce, I piled on top of romaine hearts. Delicious!

Some friends and I read the reviews but decided to try this recipe anyway. This was very good. Since most of the comments were about the dish being greasy and soggy, we made sure that the oil was fresh and hot enough as well as not putting the sauce on the shrimp until just before we served it. It turned out great. We also made it with a bit more shrimp than the recipe called for and I think that helped keep it from getting soggy.

though it's not as "spicy" as originally promised. people r complaining about this dish being greasy, but it's got a mayo base, so it is a bit oily. i still thought this was a good recipe, && i would make it again. next time, adding more spice.

OMG. I could not believe how greasy this dish was! Between the frying of the shrimp and the fatty sauce on it. This was a trial run for my Christmas dinner and I'm glad I did that!

The shrimp got soggy almost immediately. The sauce tastes horrid. GACK. Nothing to like about this one.
