Sandra's baking mix can be found if you do a search on it on food network site. Its flour, salt, baking powder and shortening.
I wasn't crazy about these. Won't make again

This recipe simply did not work for me. The mixture was too soupy, so I had to keep adding baking mix to get a doughy consistency. I did not have panko, so I subbed italian bread crumbs. Bad idea. It tasted like a hushpuppy. I then rolled it in flour. It fried up pretty and brown, but was pretty bland overall.

I have a friend who always made these balls with breakfast sausage instead of ham and didn't dredge them in any crumbs. She baked them and they were always gone about 5 mins after she arrived! Will try them with the leftover ham I know I'll have from Christmas this yr!

These are kinda old school 50 style super fattening greasy cocktail party food. I don't think I'd ever serve it to guests nowadays but its fun to make for a kids party or just to use up stuff lying around. Note to VICTORIA: Baking mix is Sandra's generic mixture she uses in many of her recipes, its just a typical dough mix of flour, salt and baking powder, not sure of the ratios she uses. You can probably find it by searching. Whenever she specifies using it in a recipe I just use Bisquik biscuis mix and I think many other viewers do the same based on the reviews I've read.

I saw this episode today and had to make them for dinner. They were very quick and easy to make and most importantly, the kids loved them. I was so excited that they turned out just like Sandra's on the show!!
