Years ago this was the holiday cake that had to be taken to my mom's house every year. And every year I had this neighbor come over and ask for His yearly rum cake. 30 years later everyone has the same reaction. Thank you for finding it. This cake is easy to make and has a great taste.

Thought this recipe looked a little too familiar, so I got my Bacardi Rum Cake recipe card out. Sure enough, it is identical to Jennifer's. How amazing! It is an excellent cake, but thanks to Bacardi not Jennifer.

I too have been making this cake for over 30 years. I have a cake tin from Bacardi that has the recipe printed on the inside of the lid. I also use the baster technique for slowly add the rum glaze so that the all the glaze soaks into the cake - it is delicious and my thanks to Bacardi for publishing the recipe so long ago!

This is a really good rum cake but it needs a few adjustments. I will make it again, but let the alcohol boil out of the glaze next time. It tasted too alcoholic for me. The recipe says to bring glaze to boil, remove the glaze from heat, then add the rum. I would put the rum in and bring it to a boil next time. There was too much alcohol-taste in the glaze. The cake itself was heavenly.

I have made this cake every holiday season for the past few years...and it came from the Bacardi Rum Cake recipe site. I've never been a big fan of Sandra Lee with her "Semi-homemade" junk, but when I saw this Jennifer chick trying to pass off a great recipe as her own it sealed the deal for me. Shame on Jenninfer and shame on Sandra!!! I wonder what other recipes have been ripped off on the show...after all it is semi-homemade!!!

Everyone loves this cake receipe (I double the glaze, but lately when i make it the cake sticks to the pan.
It is a non-stick pan and I also grease it with butter.
I don't add nuts.
I think the original said to coat with flour (which I don't do.
Any suggestions?

I just made this, and it is good. I made a few mistakes and it was still great, I purcahse a small box of pudding and put the whole thing in....3.5oz. I had pecans that was chopped real fine for some mexican wedding cookies, so, I added them to the top, then the small pices of pecan, I also added pecans in the middle of the cake. I am a pecan lover, I did not add any in the center of the finish cake.
As a ebay powerseller, it really trouble me to see so many nasty remarks on several of the cooks site.
I always said, it is the small person with no power in life, that have to bash another. And we wonder why we cannot stop war! Look in the mirror people.

I love rum, but I thought that 1/2 cup was a lot! Will make it with less next time.

I loved it! I use a similar technique with a Jello cake. Perhaps Jennifer did get the recipe from her mother, therefore it was passed down. Big deal if she didn't know it was printed in the 70's or 80's. That should be the job of the Food Network to research it and add the disclaimer. Many of these guest viewer recipes are variations of recipes that exsist. Thanks for reminding us about them.... (written without my glasses, please excuse typos
