Do not run the pods through your teeth to get out the edamame bean. Use your fingers to pick them out. I've more than once found a worm in the pod and if I didn't use my fingers to get the beans out that worm would have popped right into my mouth. I eat a lot of edamame so it's rare but I wouldn't take the chance myself of not seeing what's going into my mouth.

Edamame is usually served with just salt so the lemon was interesting to add. I liked it though!

Might want to get out a little if you think edamame needs a "sauce". The idea is a light fresh taste usully with the addition of salt, not coated with a sauce. It's a healthy appetizer in most restaurants that serve it. Therefore, this is most flavorful and good. Just run the pod through your teeth to eat the beans inside, the pod isn't supposed to be eaten.

If you eat edamame by sucking the peas out, it is a nice flavor. If you peel them out, I recommend shelling them first and then tossing with the dressing. Very tasty and how easy. I imagine that using a little rice wine vinegar instead of lemon juice or even some lime juice would be good too.

These are a delicious snack. You don't open the pods with your fingers. You eat these similarly as you would an artichoke...sliding the pod through your teeth. These are very good and fun to eat.

No one wanted to fight through those thick pods to get at the edamame beans.

After you fought through those the little nuts just didn't do much for us. Another recipe removed from the keeper file.

They really need a heavy sauce to make them edible. Try her kung pao recipe instead.

I love to get this steamed with Salt at the local Sushi shop. I had not tried it with lemon juice...so I tried this with the juice of 1 lemon...and just salt. I steamed them for about 5 minutes and while hot, I added the salt and lemon juice. If you are eating the pea pods, I can see why you wouldn't want to eat them! You "suck" out the inner peas in pods. I thought this was a pretty good recipe. It's simple and delcious! Thanks for the idea Sandra.

This recipe needs something to boost the flavor up a notch. The lemon and S&P was just too boring for my family.

A bland veggie like edamame need a stronger sauce. Try her other recipe, it's much better.
