This is one of the easiest mouth watering Beef Stew recipes I've ever made. Super Easy. Brown the meat if you want, but I haven't had the time and both times I've made it it's been wonderful. I cannot find the Knorr Garlic and Herb Sauce packet, so once I used the Vegetable Packet from Knorr and the other I used 1/2 a packet of Garlic and Herb dressing mix. My husband loves this since he is on a low carb diet. Mushrooms are also a wonderful addition.

"Would it be too much work to brown the meat and give it some nice flavor before the 8-10 hour braise?" If you're trying to get ready for work and the kids off to school? Yes, probably. Browning would probably be a good idea if you had the time but I've read a lot of slow cooker recipes and have never seen one that suggested browning the meat first because it kind of defeats the idea of a busy parent being able to serve their family a home cooked meal without having to keep the kids up past their bedtimes in order to enjoy it.

I Agree. Browning brings out the taste.
