I happened to be at Sur La Table last week and spotted candied rose petals so I thought I'd give this recipe a whirl. I had to buy expensive Chilean watermelon at this time of year. The melon/rose combination was just okay, not as repulsive as some reviewers found it. However, there was no way to keep the bits of candied rose from sticking also to the goat cheese and let me tell you, that was a horrific flavor experience. I'd have made this an all fruit (no olive oil which actually did nothing for the melon anyway skewer with a teeny bit of ground candied rose petal or a savory cheese skewer with the citrus oil. Not going to waste money and effort on this exact recipe again.
