My family loved this recipe. I changed it a bit by using small Asian red peppers instead of the crushed red pepper and sprinkling the finished dish with toasted coconut as well as the cilantro. I also used raw shrimp that I marinated in olive oil and garlic and then cooked and added to the sauce. The sauce was so delicious I ended up using the leftover in an Asian soup I made for a dinner party.

The shrimp sauce was really flat and flavorless and had a nasty grayish tinge to it. Made it really hard to eat.

We loved the taste of the coconut and garlic and soy sauce and pepper flakes galore in this sauce! I had no idea if we would like it, but like to try different recipes, and we really liked it a lot. The flavors actually blend very nicely.

I really enjoyed the spicy coconut sauce. I served mine with pasta and added toasted coconut flakes on top instead of the cilantro.
