We really liked this recipe but only after I changed it up a bit. Skip the slow cooker. Put it in the oven just like your mama did. : 350 degrees for 90 minutes. Take the meat loaf out of the pan and whisk up the stuff in that's left. I did spoon off a little of the grease, but you should leave a little with the soup and onions. It isn't pretty but it tastes really good. Cook the potatoes following the directions on the bag (I made mashed potatoes. Smother everything with the gravy and enjoy. It really is a tasty meal.
I only gave it 4 stars due to the changes I had to make. If it would have started out without the slow cooker part, I would have giving it 5+stars! You really should give it a shot.

This recipe came out great! The whole family loved it. I will definately be making this again. Although, I did use the Ranch and Herb Shake N Bake instead of the Garlic and Herb, simply because the store did not have the one that the recipe called for.

To Null: Use 1 pkg shake & Bake
To Gillian: Recipe calls for Ore-Ida Frozen Potatoes O'Brien
I used all ground beef and omitted the mushrooms and added a couple of shakes of worcestershire sauce. Also used extra potatoes to soak up the meat juices and soup. The overall texture of the meat and potatoes were excellent however I did cook it on HIGH for less time and I think that helped with the potatoes being firmer. Next time I will use my own meatloaf recipe for better flavor but still pour the soups on top, and season the potatoes.

I followed this recipe to the letter including the brand names of items. It looked awful when I took it out of the slow cooker and the meatloaf fell apart. The mushroom/onion/cheese soup/potato mixture looked very unappetizing. I was so glad I didn't invite companyi. Your recipes are usually good, but this one was terrible

I made Sandra Lee's smothered meatloaf and was wondering if we are to use both packages of the Shake and Bake? I thought it was a bit spicy.Wondering if I only used ! next if it would fall apart? Yes I will make again!

I am about to make this dish and, upon looking over the recipe, there are no instructions as to how to prepare the potatoes - sliced, diced, etc. Can someone please provide them. Thank you.

The potatoes weren't so appetizing. I will make the meatloaf again because my family really enjoyed it. I will make potatoes seperately. I used all ground sirloin because I can't find ground pork at my local supermarket. My slow cooker wasn't full of grease as I read in some of the reviews. For anyone who does try this recipe, I hope it turns out delicious!
