    I think this dish has great potential but I used wheat pasta and I don't think that was a great idea. I will have to try it again. :

    I LOVE this dish! It was delish. We took the suggestion of some other reviews and added a little extra bacon although in doing this we could have cut out the salt altogether. Sandra Lee clearly states the dish is traditionally made with panchetta, and as with all her money saving meals she opts to use a cheaper alternative in the bacon.
    This would be great as a main dish or side and you can eat it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. Plus it's quick, easy, and cheap!

    using panchetta or blanching the bacon to remove the smoke flavor before cooking would make it a true carbonara,

    Easy and quick, recipe. Sauce in very light. Could have a little more flavor. Overall not bad.
