These were so much fun to make, if the bakers that made these and did not have any luck, should really read and follow the directions. This could have made the difference in their review. Anyway these cookies were a hit at my Christmas cookie exchange party. Thank you Sandra Lee for being so creative.

These I didn't put the wholw threw the top and ribbon. Also, the lifesavers shouldn't be put in a whole because you then get more color on the bottom so just push them into the center of the cookie and it's fine. Mine grew a lot while baking so make the original dough cookies small. Also, I used parchment paper instead of the silicone baking sheet.

I was surprised to see the low ratings the Stained Glass cookies earned. After reading many of the comments I learned that my experience was unlike most others. My three year-old and I had a successful outcome. We had none of the candy sticking issues that others had. What I did differently...I bought a bag of hard candy from the $1 Store, I used parchment paper on my cookie sheets, and I used generic sugar cookie slice and bake dough. My candy melted beautifully and the cookies came out just right. Sorry to hear others were so disappointed. I'd suggest another try with some modifications. It's cheap and worth another effort.

Indeed this is the worst recipe for an "easy" cookie recipe and needs to be taken OFF the Foodnetwork.com website. I do not know where that picture comes from- but it is a product of this recipe. The candy stuck even to the silicone pane and melted ALL OVER the cookie- it looked terrible and was not edible. Terrible!

Not only did the lifesavers not melt completely, the decorator icing (which was purchased fresh wouldn't give me a nice ring around the center to add the dragees. We ended up skipping the lifesavers and made simple plain sugar cookies. Very disappointing.

I thought these would be so pretty, but unfortunately the lifesaver candy stuck to the pan! This was a disappointment!!

Now come one Sandra - these cookies were a disaster. Cookie's overdone, "stained glass" not consistent, burned at the edges, etc... Really a pitiful looking cookie.

These cookies looked so pretty that I decided to make them last Christmas for my church's cookie exchange. BIG MISTAKE! First, I had to travel across town to get the dragees which were expensive, but since it was for a cookie exchange, I did it. After working hard to get the dragees placed on each cookie like the picture showed, they still looked awful. I don't see how these cookies could be considered easy, they weren't. I've been baking cookies for many years but I still couldn't make them look like the picture.

What is up with people defending Sandra Lee? This recipe is crap. If you want to go through all this trouble to make the cookies as Christmas ornaments that is fine, but they are not meant for eating. The recipe belongs on a craft website, not a food website.

I made these cookies last year with my class of second graders. We decorated them differently from the way they are shown this year, but they looked great! Many kids said that they kept them as decorations at home. I like the recipe for the stained glass cookies where you crush the candies a little better, but this recipe is much easier with children.
