Great idea. Glad to see Sandra wore a top with tight fitting sleeves. During one of her episodes outside, her sleeves were dangling over a gas burner when it was very windy. So dangerous.

This comes out very pretty looking. It actually tastes decent UNTIL you taste the frosting which is gritty with WAY too much powdered sugar. In order to cook this enough, the biscuits are dry, ESPECIALLY by the time they cool enough for icing. This ends up being a dry, cold, yucky canned biscuit. Not very appealing, honestly. I'd rather serve warm bread rolls. Got a second star because it does look pretty.

I had seen the original episode of Sandra making this about 2 or 3 years ago and tried it that night. It was a huge HIT! It looked very beautiful and a great side that everyone can just pick at during the meal. It was gone before everyone finished eating! I'm glad I found it again. It does make a difference not using Pillsbury. Make sure to use up as much space as possible when cutting out designs or the lard in the dough will begin to flake out because of over rolling.

I loved the recipe it was a beautiful presentation, however I couldn't find a large maple leaf cookie cutter, can you tell me where I can find it. I kind of cut it out by hand....

Instead of using the sugar and spices in this recipe, I substituted parmesean cheese and italian spices, (rosemary, oregano, parsely & thyme, then brushed with garlic butter. It was the most beautiful addition to my Thanksgiving table and had enough flavor to stand up to the meal.

I cut way back on the spice and syrup. These were still kind of heavy.

I made this for a party I had and it was a hit!I have made it several times since. I have tried different cookie cutter shapes for the different occasions. For the superbowl, I the biscuts into rectangles, cut them into slices, then twisted 2 together-placing the nuts between the layers (called them sweet biscut twists. These worked out great...they were the first to go.
