I used this for girls night and instead of peanut butter, I used caramel. I used a heavy whipping cream with brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice whipped in it for the topping. They all loved it. I also put cinnamon sugar on top and caramelized it under the broiler. I will be making these more offten.

I have to agree about the tortillas...I think the taste of the whole wheat tortilla doesn't blend well with the rest of the recipe. It's a good idea in theory, but not really worth it. With another ingredient to replace the tortilla, it may be really good :

I made these apple pies for a group of about a dozen people. They recieved mixed reviews and most people didn't even finish theirs. I think the flavor of the wheat tortilla with the sweetness of the pie-filling just doesn't blend that well. The topping was delicious and the peanut butter worked well but I wouldn't bother to make these again even though they are cheap and easy.

Instead of using apple pie filling, with many preservatives, instead get an apple and cut it into small, cube like pieces and mix with apple sauce. This was even a bit cheaper than buying pie filling also and you can't beat the freshness!!! Try with cinnamon apple sauce.

This recipe was as delicious as it was quick and easy. I used flour tortillas instead of wheat (as suggested by Sandra Lee. Before sprinkling the sugar on top of the tortillas, I basted them lightly with butter and then I sprinkled them with a Cinnamon Sugar instead of granulated (as suggested. Baked at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes and served with vanilla ice cream about 30 minutes later. Big hit with my family!
