My husband and I had a bet weather or not these would taste good. He won. They are great and I'm not a huge onion fan and I had two. We are planning on making them for guest soon. We highly recommend that you try them.

I made these for the adults in our family when I made Cowboy pockets. I knew the kids wouldn't eat onion. We all really loved it. I did bake them longer than 20 minutes--45 minutes and they were still not totally tender, but still very good. I had some left over store bought potato salad and I think I will use my own next time. Thanks Sandra!

Have made this, but with boullion cube, butter & mashed potatoes. Your's is excellent....Your method of cutting an X in the center and scooping out the insides, tops mine. I had a rough time coring the onion in my original recipe.
Thanks so much. ....love watching your show...your creativity, graciousness, and originality shine through. You've taught me so much!
Keep up the good work!
P.S...Oh, and spraying the onions before putting in the oven helps. I sprayed mine with an olive oil spray.

Made a few changes but loved this method. Didn't make Sandy's potato salad or grill my green onions, but my salad was similar. Cut potato chunks smaller, added mustard, garlic powder & more cheese before stuffing. Sprayed outside of onions with regular non-stick cooking spray. Had to bake 40 mins because my onions were prepped a day earlier and cold from the refrigerator. Next time will sprinkle inside of onions with granulated boullion or seasoned salt. Oh, almost forgot the most important thing! Used Vidalia onions!

I checked out the recipe before the show aired. I made sure I followed the recipe accordingly. If you pre-heat the oven, it turns out totally awesome. Sandra never stop making people feel good about semi-homemade and money saving recipes. I do miss you saying "have a great day" at the end of your show. I will continue to watch your show and maybe some day have enough confidence to send in one of my recipes. God bless you and your family, I have walked in your shoes and know if you work hard and have faith you will succeed.
Much thanks and appreciation,

Basically tasteless and there's no way that you can expect the onion to be tender after just 20 minutes in the oven. We were closer to 50 minutes. We do a smilar recipe, coring the onion and then adding a beef bouillon cube and butter, then wrap in foil and put on the grill. Wondering if the foil wrap might be a good thing?
