I have yet to make this with the liqueur, but it is such a great recipe without! Most of the time my guests ask for the beverage without peppermint extract added, but I think it tastes great either way.

I did this for the holidays as well as for my anniversary this year but I decided to make some changes to the recipe. I have made, cherry hot chocolate, strawberry hot chocolate and coffee (chilled chocolate.

Cherry: adding cherry syrup and cherries as a topper

Strawberry: strawberry syrup with strawberry liquer and strawberries as a topper

Coffee: adding Starbucks coffee liquer with coffee flavored ice cream instead of whipped cream and chilled instead of hot. It turns to more of a delicious smoothie :D

This recipe is really easy to run with and fun to mix up. :D

This is one of the best hot chocolate drinks I've ever had. Yes, it's very rich and sweet but isn't that the point! It is a addition to every holiday get together we have - always rave reviews!

I have made this recipe several times, enought use up a bottle of white chocolate liquer anyways. Everyone I have served it to thinks its as good as I do. I think having a candy cane stirring stick is a must. It makes the drink even tastier as it melts.

Make sure you buy white chocolate that is made with cocoa butter, and not oil. It makes all the difference with the taste and texture. We made the adult version - excellent!
