"semi-homemade" recipes are sometimes a little time consuming. Which is fine with me if they are this good. I tried this with pre made won tons and this recipe's version. They were both good but I really liked the filling in the recipe's version better, so it will be worth it for me to make them this way next time!!

This soup is delish! It is much better than won ton soup usually is when you buy it premade. To us anyway, this had much more flavor. We loved the wontons the best.

This is WAY too much work for semi-homemade. I agree with Phil: heat up some chicken stock and add pre-made wontons. MUCH easier and taste is the same.

I like Wonton Soup. Rather than going to the trouble of making the Wontons, I buy them already made and packaged at an Asian market. They are sometimes called Sheperds Purses. They come with various fillings ( Shrimp, spinach, etc. They come 40 in a package in the freezer section, for about $ 2.75 .

I just make some instant chicken broth and toss in about 4 or 5 wontons for each serving.

I realize that a lot of viewers do not have access to Asian markets like I do here in the Bay Area of California.

This is a great and very easy soup that my family loves. I've made it twice and will make it again this weekend.

#1. The wontons were too bland. #2. The onion soup mix made the broth taste like onion dip. #3 There are way too many ingredients for the amount of liquid. Vegetables, chicken, pork, etc. This could have been a nice recipe if it had been more carefully thought out. As is, it's a mess.

This isn't just a soup.. it's a total meal. It DOES make more than 24 dumplings though. Best wonton soup I have ever had BY FAR. Fantastic!
