I was looking for a simple burger recipe that basically is all about the burger. It's hard to believe how simple and how unbelievably good this burger came out. I would usually cook a burger on an outdoor grill but followed the recipe and cooked them on a skillet with butter. I've never tasted such a moist and delicious burger. You could certainly add other things but start with this recipe and go from there.

Excellent! My picky husband devoured his burger and said thank you at the end of his meal. I will definitely make this recipe from now on. Best burger that I have ever eaten to date.

I was in Costa Rica with limited frills and tried this recipe with the organic beef, onions and milk (no heavy cream I picked up at the lil market here; awesome! Never would have thought heavy cream/milk but what a great burger. Honestly, probably the best I ever tasted and I went on a burger quest all over New York City for a year and this is still the best by far, of course it's Beard so you cannot go wrong. I will even put this up against the shake shack. I also think the shredded onion was key too. Excellent Burger, Truly.

If you have the time, I mixed the ingredients together and split it into two lunches. I put the other half in the fridge for the following day. The ones that go to permeate overnight were so freakin delicious I wish I would have made more. I am so ready to try this with meatloaf as the previous commenter stated; excellent idea. Maybe even meatballs; skies the limit.

The recipe was so simple, I didn't expect much. Then again, it WAS James Beard. Turns out, it wasa also one of the best burgers I've ever eaten--home OR restaurant. As they said in an old commercial,"Try it; you'll like it!"

I wanted to try a different recipe for hamburgers. This was very good. I added a little more heavy cream and it was delicious. Simple and quick too! We will start making our burgers this way. This is the only recipe I will use. This is the best burger ever!!

This is now my sole hamburger recipe. Putting that touch of heavy cream in the meat makes the most unbelievably moist patties I ever made!
My burgers are now juicy like the ones I have drooled over on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. And they taste abso delish too.
My family now loves for my burgers because they are no longer dry and shrivled. And flipping them when the juice runs clear is the key to maintaining top juiciness!
I now use a touch of heavy cream in my meatloaf, along with the breadcrumbs, and get the same juicy result. Who knew!
Thank you James for the 411

This was just okay...I said nothing to the family about how it was prepared and dinner went on as usual. I did substitute greek yogurt for the heavy cream from previous posts, but didn't do a lot for the flavor.

It seems very simple, but trust me, if you make these, you will not be disappointed. Cook to a medium rare/medium temp and they are perfect. If you by chance overcook them, don't worry- they will still be amazing! Grilling the buns add that extra flare. No condiments needed, but we had ours simply with cheddar cheese, pickles, and mayo. Delicious! Try a fancy bun like a french or brioche to step it up.

This was really the best burger ever! Didn't have cream , used skim milk and it was awesome. Will never make a burger any other way. I cooked the burgers on the grill for 4 minutes on each side. Perfect!
