This cake was awful. The icing was great but the cake had no flavor. I even added 4 heaping tablespoons of cocoa and it was still awful.

The cake turn out very good but I did make some changes to the recipe. I use 3cups of flour since the recipe use some much of veg oil. Also I use 3T of cocoa instead of 3t. It was so good the cake only last 1 hour , if that. This was a super easy recipe.

Great recipe! I added added a little extra vanilla to the batter. It's wonderfully moist and oily as a Red Velvet Cake should be!

Gag! WAY too oily. My grandma's recipe uses Crisco, and only half a cup. That much oil makes it oily, not luscious and moist. It also needs 2 T not 2t. of cocoa. Otherwise it doesn't have light chocolate flavor, it has no chocolate flavor. It was also less dense than traditional red velvet. Everybody wanted to know what was missing. Just not traditional red velvet. I am with the other reviewer. There is no way this is Cakeman Raven's cake!

To reviewer "linai-is-me23" the cream cheese icing is from scratch and it is at the end of the recipe as it states it is.

This cake is really good to me and I will be making it again. I did make one change and that was to increase the chocolate to 2 T of chocolate instead of 2 t. Even using 2 T of chocolate doesn't make this cake a chocolate cake, but more depth in flavor.

Okay im about to make this recipe, and I realized the frosting isn't made from scratch. Can someone tell me where you had gotten the cream cheese frosting from?
