I made this cake for a friend's birthday and everyone loved it. I personally am not a fan of red velvet cake, but this cake was exceptionally moist. The frosting was also very tangy and not too sweet. Several people asked for the recipe and said it was the best red velvet cake they had ever had (quite a compliment from a crowd of Southerners!

I am not good at making a good-looking cake, but I followed this recipe to the letter, and when it was done, I was stunned that I had done this. It was a gift for my family, and they raved about how delicious it was. I will definitely make it again. Thanks!!

Made cupcakes instead - recipe is very easy to make and they came out tasting great, moist too. Frosting is a little heavy but Will still make again.

My family loved this, and I am not good with cakes. As a gift, a red velvet cake arrived 2 days after I made this one. Most is still in the fridge, but mine is long gone! Super moist. Mine only needed about 20 minutes to bake.

I made this cake for Thanksgiving 2003. I had never had Red Velvet Cake before, but after seeing The Cake Man prepare that cake I knew it was something that would be a hit on that day. Everyone one raved about the cake because of the color and it was just the right flavor. The frosting was really sweet but the cake wasn't so everything was balanced to perfection. It was easy to prepare. Now this is my signature cake. Everyone puts in their requests for me to make this cake just for them so they can have to take home : Thanks Cake Man.

This cake is excellent. I have made many Red Velvbet cakes, they are my favorite. The very best Red Velvet cakes are made with oil. There are three different fats you can add, butter, shortening or oil. Oil makes the moistest cake. Red velvet cakes don't have much flavor and that is what sets them apart from other cakes, they have an interesting "what exactly is that 'wonderful taste' flavor" Thanks Sara for a winner-I am going to switch the one I have been using for this one, just a small change in ingredient amounts from what I have been using made an excellent difference.
