We LOVED this simple and easy dessert. In my usual way though, I made 3 changes.
    1. I roasted the hazelnuts and removed as many of the bitter skins as possible.
    2. The baking time was increased by at least 20 minutes as I think that the noted time was a misprint.
    3. The torte wasn't much to look at on the cake stand, so a dusting of powdered sugar was in order.

After cracking and cleaning a cup of hazelnuts, collecting 3 days of eggs from my chickens and wasting a cup of butter, I was very disappointed that the baking time was so inaccurate! 25 minutes resulted in a runny inedible mess. I'll probably try incorporating the "batter" into some crepes so I don't waste it entirely. Disappointed.

Made two changes - added additional chocolate as others suggested and also used half brown sugar/half regular sugar. The brown sugar is hygroscopic so it adds addtional moistness. Very dense and chocolatey. Baking time increased to 45 minutes. Used to make a recipe that needed to beat egg whites, melt chocolate, etc. This is easier and better. The food processor makes the nuts into nut flour - if you want a little more nut texture you may want to partially process some of the nuts and remove them then add back at the last mix.

I love this recipe I have made it several times doing different things each time. My family loved the one where I replaced the Hazelnuts with Peanuts. My husband said it tasted like a reese peanut butter cup. I kind of think it is funny when people complain about how dense it is and how it doesn't rise because that is what I love about it. Due to its density you only need a little bit to have a great dessert. I made it all the time when I was pregnant with my second child because my Doc. had me on a controlled carb diet and due to the little amount of flour and sugar involved it was a great treat for me. I would highly recommend this.

I followed the recipe exactly, except substituting pecans for hazelnuts and it came out terrible. It didn't rise at all. It was more like a pancake than a cake. I realized that the recipe doesn't even have any leavening, so I don't know how it would even rise if it could. The taste was alright, nothing special. Avoid it.

I tried this cake to see if it is worth making for guests. Good thing I did because it takes a lot longer to bake than the suggested 20-25 minutes. It tastes great.

This torte was very easy to make. I did not have hazelnuts so I substituted toasted almonds and it tasted very good. Tastes better the longer it sits!

This recipe is amazing. And so very simple. I did however increase the amount of chocolate to 8oz. as advised in previous ratings. I also had to increase the bake time to 27 minutes. I will make this again.

    Just Delicious!
...but we used 8oz of Chocolate...
    4 oz bittersweet and 4 oz semi-sweet...
This means you will need to add about 12 minutes of baking time.
Really easy, but impressive! Perfect dinner party material!
    Serve warm with ice cream!
