This is an easy recipe. Since my mom lent my Vietnamese cookbook to someone I had to find an alternate recipe. Compared to what i've had in restaurants as well as whats in my cookbook this was much more sour. My familly who is usually delighted with this was not pleased. So in my opinion its not great.

Thai Kitchen is a great brand to use for fish sauce. Some other brands can be too overpowering in their fishy flavor. I also use less water and add rice vinegar. Chili flakes are a good substitute to fresh peppers- but you have to let them soak in the sauce before serving.

This is the closest I've tasted to a Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas, TX who got me hooked on this sauce
