This is an excellent soup. The flavors are good and the "heat"can be adjusted by using different peppers or adjusting the amounts. very tasty!

I had a few friends over for dinner and this was a big hit! They all enjoyed it, I even added some flour tortillas (cut into 1 in pieces right at the end of cooking- everyone really liked that touch. It was also perfect for a party because I could cook it ahead of time and heat it up right before serving to my guests.

The chicken is fabulous; as it states, it can be used in almost anything. When used in the soup, though, it comes together really well. I omitted the tortillas, added some veggies, and it was a great comforting soup. Was less keen on the lime juice as a garnish, though.

We loved this soup! It was delicious, although a little time consuming. the recipe stated it made 8-12 servings, but it really only made 4-6. Great leftover as well.

taste.. I'm not sure if I like the taste
of cilantro, that is the only reason
why I didn't rate this a five star.

    preparation..easy
    presentation..beautiful, almost too
    beautiful to eat.
smell..this soup gets a "5 star" for the smell.
My neighbor was my reviewer and she
gave me a "5 star", but most of all
wanted to know who Sara was!!!!!!

the end results made up for the prep time it took to complete this recipe. this is the BEST soup i've ever made and the directions for the chicken preparation i've implemented into lots of other recipes..Incredibly Moist and Fabulous! Toss that chicken in the oven w/ the desired ingredients, cook tenderly slow for Hours and WOW! I thinned my soup at the end w/ a little extra lime juice and the dish was a dee-lite!

I've made tortilla soup recipes from Emeril, the mansions and many more. This is the best. I don't follow the recipe exactly but your not supposed to. These recipes are just a guide and you add or remove ingrediants to your personal taste. I myself instead of using water I use broth. It makes it sooo rich and wonderfully tasty. It's the best!!!

I'm glad people liked this recipe but it has nothing to do with classic Sopa de Tortilla. It should be a simple (unthickened chicken broth tinted with a little tomato and red chile - then garnished with diced avocado, Mexican cheese and fried stale tortilla strips. Simple, inexpensive food - not this overdone mess.

The chicken recipe is great for tacos and enchiladas. I added a mexican blend of cheese and sliced avacado to the soup. It is the best tortilla soup I have had!!
