Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar
  • 3 tablespoons biscuit/baking mix
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 pound bulk pork sausage
  • Cooking spray
  • Sweet-and-sour sauce, optional
  • Barbecue sauce, optional

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

In a small bowl, combine the Cheddar, biscuit mix, onion, celery, garlic powder and pepper. Crumble sausage over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls.

Place the sausage balls in a shallow baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, for 12 to 15 minutes or until no longer pink and cooked through. Remove from the baking pan and drain on paper towels. Serve on a platter with sauces, if desired.

They were Excelent not dry like others I have eaten! To: Patty Shea and notacookingauthority it must be the sausage or you all did not mix it good! I used a 2 inch melon scoop for mine it worked good!

I've been making a similar recipe for years...only includes 1 lb sage sausage, 1 cup of Bisquick and 1 cup shredded cheddar. A good trick when baking is to cook sausage balls on a greased (with olive oil wire rack over the sheet pan. There is alot of grease in the sheet pan afterward, but the sausage balls are delicious and have never fallen apart!

Didn't work for me...all fell apart. Not sure what is up but seems like something you would use as a crumble topping for like a real moist, juicy, mac and cheese or something. Is there an ingredient or something missing from the recipe? I'll try a few other ideas I have..thanks anyway
