I made these cupcakes for my boyfriend and all his marine buddies and they gobbled them up like they were going out of style!! they turned out exactly as paula's did and were so moist and wonderful! the batter was to die for! i think my little sister ate half of it before i could actually bake it! i will be making these again very soon! i used a different filling ("hershey's perfectly chocolate" chocolate frosting" Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe with us!

This batter is to die for...the cupcakes, not so much. I've tried it twice, and both times the cupcakes do not firm up and fall apart making it impossible to hold and eat. I'll try another "buttermilk cupcake" recipe instead.

Not sure why the negative comment because this recipe is awesome!! The moistness and flavor are outstanding! I did not make the cupcakes because I did not have cooking spray at the time so I generously buttered a 13x9 pan and made a cake! Baked at 350 for about 33 min. My family loved it and we were eating it plan!! I then of course saved some so that we could serve the cake with fresh strawberries and whipcream....talk about good! I tried Cheryls other recipe for cupcakes and they are good too but this recipe with the buttermilk is the best!! I will make this all the time cake or cupcakes doesnt really matter. This one is a hit Cheryl. Keep the great baking recipes coming!! Thanks Paula for bringing Cheryl on your show to share these fabulous recipes!!

These turned out wonderful and yummy! *** And to those who have nothing good to say, keep it to yourself, you wouldn't like anyone picking YOU apart. There is no need for negativity when all she does is try to make people happy.

I tried the recipe as written and they did rise up and fall also. I still like the idea of dipping out the center and adding whipped cream or something wonderful. As far as Paula Deen, her guests and hygiene, it doesn't matter to me although I do think it is sort of yukky. I used to like her but if you go back and watch any early episodes, 2002 (which I don't even think they aire anymore Paula Deen did not talk like she does now. She wasn't saying "YALL" every time she speaks and didn't have the Georgia drawl like she does now. Maybe Gordon Elliott made her "play it up" but it is a turn off for this Texan. And enough with the plastic surgery and new teeth, etc. She's gone way overboard and I would love to see the 2002 Paula Deen but she did need an eye job which she got but should have quit there. I'll bet her boys have said STOP also to her "improvements". haha

This looked like a wondrful cupcake on air. But not in my kitchen. I beleive I am a highly seasoned cook. I have made many of paula's receipes but this onewas a bust. Now grant it I had no Cake Flour in the house so I used my house subsitute which is 2 Tablespoons of Cornstarch in my measure cup then fill the rest with all purpose flour to make one cup. I used this method to measure 3 cups of flour for the receipe.
I got 40 regular size cupcakes out of the mixture. I sprayed my pans with a good non stick spray. They rose up in the pan then fell and got light brown on top. when I tried to remove them from the pans it was not pretty. they broke all up. I cooled the rest complete in the pans then had to cut them out of the pan some of them were too soft. I don't think I could have cut a hole in them to fill. They were a mess.
The cake it self had a nice taste but I wouldn't waste my 3 sticks of butter again on this receipe.

First of all, I believe this is a forum to rate a recipe - not a TV episode or a host or anything else. If you haven't even tried a recipe, DO NOT rate it!! This recipe makes delicious cupcakes, however, because of the high amount of sugar, the cakes rise over the top of the pan and stick. As the recipe does not state how many it makes or how much batter to use per cake, I would recommend using jumbo cupcake pans with about 1/4 cup of batter per cake. I made 24 regular size cupcakes using 1/4 cup per pan and I had a mess.

I am always looking for new and interesting recipes and this one looks like one that would be easy and delicious. I also notice when Paula or her guests finger test their food, but who doesn't do that at home? This is how you know if it is going to taste good. Doubt she does it in her restaurant, and hey if she double dips then it must be good!!

Obviously you have never baked a cake with a child. It's her show ,she can dip her fingers in the batter if she wants. It's not like I was personally going to eat it.
