I made this recipe and was really happy with the results. I think I will reduce the beer to half, but I really enjoyed the beer taste as did everyone else. I will just reduce it by half b/c I thought it was a bit to liquidy. Great recipe you should try.

I can't believe how many bad reviews this recipe got! I am a mother of 2 and I appreciate Sandra for trying to help us make home cooked meals for our families in less time. Even with the beans from a can it still beats a drive thru window any day! Keep up the great work Sandra!

Wow, were these great!! My hubby, a bit of a baked beans snob, if I may add, LOVED these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bacon added such a nice flavor, no where near the canned flavor you'll find straight from the can. To the negative reviewers who clearly did not even TRY this recipe, shame on you!! At least give it a try before slamming the recipe. Otherwise, why bother wasting our time with your reviews that bear no credibility? We loyal fans crave new recipes and we love rating the recipes after we've actually TRIED them!!!!!!!!!!!! Sandra has many great ideas and my family loves your show! :

I prepared these beans and they were really watery. My family did not care for this dish but if anyone wants to try it please do so. I'll try again with some changes to the basic recipe. Thanks.

I made this recipe for Labor Day when I found out that I was getting unexpected company for dinner on very short notice. These beans were delicious and the beer really gave it that extra flavor that everyone asked about but couldn't figure out. I added some chopped green pepper when I was frying the onions for a little extra flavor. On another note.... I was appalled at some of the reviews that were left for this recipe. I felt as though I were reading someones "hate mail". Do you all have nothing better to do with your time? Reading all of your one star reviews, is what prompted me to leave one myself. Get a life! And Sandra... thanks for all of the great easy recipes!

and only one for "beer baked beans" which is a natural accompaniment for chicken, brisket, hotdogs, brats, ribs, and more. It is not too hard to adjust the viscosity of this dish... a complaint by one challenged with the complexity of this dish! Complaining harpie cannot think of a single way to thicken it up a bit... stay away from rocketry because it ain't the science for you! The link to the coven's lair gets you nowhere unless you are willing to register and tell them "why" you want into the coven! A risky thing to commit to IMHO! Then there is the complaint about this using a main ingredient from a can plus the other ingredients. Humorous since one of the other beer recipes is so mundane that it uses Ketchup, beer, sugar... and hotdogs from a package rather than making them from scratch! The recipe text declares it is award winning. How ironic someone can win awards with dogs from a plastic vac-pack and SL gets flamed for opening a can! Go figure! Or... for open minds... both might be very simple and good! This one fits that description... and I dare say most baked beans eaten in homes in the US start out from the can rather than scratch! I will also opine that over half get kicked up by adding ingredients! I sure hope the literacy-challenged who cannot understand some of my other posts are able to read this one and refrain from a response that showcases their low IQ.

Just cut the beer to half a bottle & one more spoonful of molasses & these beans are delicious; I like a little green pepper, as well. These beans are not meant for "beanie-weenie" lovin' kids but for adult company...they were a hit!
