After coming home from a trip, I walked in to see some overripe bananas and immediately remembered this episode and Roger's recipe. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I did not think the bananas were overpowering and the heat was just right with the recommended amount of sambal. I also had to make the sauce without the shrimp due to accommodating a food allergy but I don't think that hurt anything. And it was just as delicious over some salmon!

Made this tonight and it was DELICIOUS! I used bananas that weren't black yet, and it was still really tasty! I didn't tell my boyfriend what was in it but he could tell it was fruit. He guessed pineapple and mango but not banana. It was definitely the perfect combination of sweet and spicy to us. Will most definitely make again and experiment by adding some bell peppers, vegetables, maybe pineapple. Big hit!

I won't make this again! Made it last night for me and my son and he loves to try new things and different flavor combinations. There was nothing about this dish we hated, just thought it was a big fat zero. I had everything I needed except for the cilantro, good thing it was on sale but what a waste of the lovely fresh shrimp I had.

To say I was skeptical, based on the name, is an understatement..but I watched the episode of "Best Thing I Ever Made" and knowing this chef's sensibilities and background, and watching the people he served it to swoon, I knew I had to try it. A crazy, impossible, but perfect blend of exotic flavors that marry better than I could have even imagined. A serious Home Run...served it with grilled corn on the cob and even loved the sauce on the corn. The aromas and the explosion of flavor make this a memorable meal I intend to share with my friends and family. Sexy, messy, good eating.

I hafta say I was so excited to try this as the finished product looked so good on tv. But, after making it, I thought it was not that good at all. I found the banana flavor ws too overpowering and the sambal too hot. Also, I dont know what these people are talking about this dish not tasting like bananas!!! Its overpowering. I made it at my sister's house and both of us didnt have any. My brother-in-law came home and sent me a text saying it was the best thing Ive ever made for him. He said it was very Carribean tasting and if he ever had this in a restaurant, he would definitely go back for it. Hes begging me to make it again. We're making for the bananas to turn black!!! EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT TASTE!!

I have been a fan of FN for over ten years. I always prepare a recipe for the first time as written and then decide to tweek to my own tastes if needed. This is the WORST recipe I have ever encountered on FN. Waste of great ingredients. The only tweek I did was to throw it in the trash.

Love this recipe - pretty easy to make. Made it over Thin Spaghetti for NYE dinner for two and it was a hit. Forgot to add the honey but still was incredible. You can't hardly taste the bananas.

I was so amazed w/ the bold flavors & the absence of the bananna flavor. Wonderful over rice but will try rice noodles next time. Will also try over chicken skewers.

It's delicious. You don't even taste the banana. The banana's sweetness is balanced with the saltiness of the soy.

I cut down on the sambal oolek by half and found the heat didn't overpower the other bold flavors. Served it over white jasmine rice. TASTY
