Born and raised in Pennsylvania, I didn't even know what grits were! My 8yo and I were taken w/ the show and honestly ---there's a new item on our menu.
It was great. I stuck to the recipe and while I would leave the spice of the shrimp for my 6 and 8 yo boys, my husband and I cleaned our plates. Everyone lloved the grits. Thanks Joe...

I made this for the first time as my husband requested shrimp and grits for Father's Day. This will become a 'go-to' recipe for sure! I am not the most talented with cooking, but I felt like I was eating at a restaurant. Thanks Joe!

I have my own special recipe for S&G which has more fresh veggies (corn, peppers, green onions, etc but wanted to try something different. I hate to say it, but I think I will have to abandon my old recipe after trying this!! It was so delicious. I will say, if you are not going to use they Tone's cajun seasoning, you may want to adjust accordingly because I used Louzianne's cajun seasoning, maintaining the quantity called for in the recipe, and it was almost too hot--and we like spicy! Other than that, perfect in every way. A one dish meal, for sure. We made a salad and some french bread but neither of us touched it because we were so full from this rich, delicious dish.

MY HUSBAND AND I REALLY LOVED THIS! I'M MAKING IT AGAIN NEXT WEEKEND FOR MY SON AND DAUGHTER IN LAW . I USED LOW SODIUM CHICKEN STOCK FOR THE WATER. I ALSO USED SALT-LESS CAJUN SEASONING(MAKE OR GET AT COST PLUS WORLD MARKET AND UNSALTED BUTTER BECAUSE MY HUSBAND IS ON A LOW SODIUM DIET, AND THIS WAS STILL GREAT! GOOD AND SPICY!

I watched the show with the shrimp and grits throwdown, and ever since i've been wanting to try this recipe. I'm from GA and grew up eating grits, but this is the best I ever had. I can't eat regular plain grits again. I'm going to try the other recipe too.

I am from the south however I now live in Michigan and this is by far the best recipe I have ever made and tasted. Ingredients are readily available and recipe is clearly written. I made this dish for my co-workers for a pot luck and the container I brought was practically licked clean...these folks are mostly northerners and filipinos and they LOVED this...had many requests for this recipe and directed them to this site. I did make a couple of substitutions (1/2 and 1/2 instead of heavy cream, chicken stock for the water and bouillion cubes Still great with the substitutions..Make extra because no matter how much you make there wont be enough!!!
