I made this tonight and my husband loved it. It was very creamy and the texture was great. Sweet enough and not too overwhelming.

What a way to impress my mother-in-law! When she asked me to bring dessert to a family dinner, I didn't want to bring the typical apple pie...this turned out perfectly! Everyone was still raving about it the next day!

I love this receipe because it uses dark brown sugar which really adds a richness to the dish. I add an extra egg yolk and tablespoon of dark brown sugar for extra richness and I find that this makes the recipe perfect.

This recipe was really easy although I needed to cook mine for way longer than the recipe called for - over an hour. I guess it depends on what size ramekins you use (it didn't specify but mine were 1 cup each and somewhat deep I guess, and it took very long to cook. I would recommend using a shallow oval one for the best results. Once I got past that problem, it came out great and my boyfriend said it was better than creme brulee he's had in restaurants. I used a mixture of regular and light brown sugar for the topping and it was good too.

For many years I would order creme brulee when available on desert menus. I thought it was difficult to make. No more! This recipe is easy and is better than many I have tried all over the country - and at a fraction of restaurant prices. My family and dinner guests love it.
