Good taste. Easy to make. Go easy on the black pepper if you're sensitive to spicy heat. Like most dishes the beans and rice heat up as the flavors develop. Make sure to use regular not instant rice. The regular rice seems to hold it shape and texture better.

I halved this recipe, which was a mistake because everyone kept going back for seconds! It still made plenty, but not really enough for leftovers (which were requested the next nite. The only changes I made were to add a roasted poblano and to cheat on the rice by steaming in my rice cooker, adding it towards the end. (I fail at making rice in dishes. Also added half a bottle of Corona. Other half went to the cook! Yummy recipe!

Great recipe with a few tweaks! Use chicken broth instead of water, added some southwest seasoning in addition to the cumin, and I prefer brown rice (used 1 cup rice 2 1/2 cup liquid. Other than that followed the recipe and it was wonderful. Served it with a Jerk pork tenderloin and mango salsa - will definately do this again!

This was delicious. I must admit that I was afraid only 2 cups of water would leave my rice crunchy so I used 4 cups of water. It says salt and pepper, I added 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp white pepper. Since someone had posted that it was bland I added 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning. Awesome dish. I think it would have been awesome the way it is posted also. Enjoy.

No flavor at all. And I followed the recipe to the letter. I even added salt at the table...something I never do...to little effect.

A++++! I love this dish! Great comfort food, especially when served with ropa vieja. I followed Ingrid's recipe, but added 3 cans of beans instead of 4.

My husband really liked this dish! I would add a little less than one-quarter cup of apple cider vinegar though, the next time I make it. The vinegar has a strong influence... Oh yeah, this recipe makes a WHOLE lot!

MMMMM, what a hearty filling meal! This was so yummy! I used dried beans, 1/2 water and 1/2 vegetable stock, and added 3 serrano peppers when I mixed the beans and tomatoes into the vegetables, and some cilantro just before serving. Very flavorful, will definitely make this one again!!
