We loved this recipe, but like most people, we did modify it a little. I couldn't find turkey thighs so used legs instead. I also only used 1 can of chickpeas and 1 onion. It was delicious and I think I could drink the cilantro sauce straight, it was so yummy!

This was so delish! Easy to do while at work. I used chicken thighs because I prefer over turkey and only used one can of chickpeas because my husband has no desire to eat chickpeas (you have to compromise sometimes but other than that I followed the recipe to the letter and it turned out great. I don?t know why anyone would have had problems with undercooked carrots, mine turned out just right. I will be sharing this with friends. It is a great way to get lots of fruits and veggies without even trying.

I followed this recipe to the letter, excepted I did not have two whole chili peppers so I put 1tsp of crushed chili peppers. The savory-spiciness and the sweetness work so well together This dish is so good the only thing bad thing about it was I ate too much of it, Well done to all the chefs and thank you

I cannot say enough about this recipe. It was so healthy and so delicious.

I read other people's comments and agreed with some suggestions - here is what I changed:

I bought a Jennie-O bone in full turkey breast that was 4.5 lbs
I used a bag of baby carrots
    2 onions instead of 3
    1 1/2 t allspice and 1/2 t cumin
    Added some chicken broth
Red pepper flakes instead of chilis
I thickened broth at the end with some flour
In the drizzle, I used 1-2 T of olive oil and the rest chic broth.

This recipe is so flavorful and healthy - I will be making it oftern

This recipe pleased a number of picky eaters in our family. They all loved it!
Smart mix of some animal protein and beans!!! We left out the pepper this time, but will add it next time.

I actually thought it was delicious. I followed the recipe almost exactly. I only omitted the chilis. I would leave out the apricots next time and only use 1 onion and
    less carrots.

We just made this last weekend. Like many others, we added more spices to the recipe (coriander, cumin, and more allspice. Quite nice flavor, but the turkey legs fell apart, leaving unappetizing tendons strewn throughout the dish. Would repeat using chicken thighs.

The only reviewers who enjoyed this recipe were the ones that modified it. The recipe as it is, first looks like nothing the picture. Not certain where all of the "broth" came from b/c the only liquid in the recipe is the juice from the tomatoes. The carrots were not cooked and by the time that they were, the squash had all but disinegrated making it very thick. The biggest issue however was that it was SO SWEET. The cilantro sauce was great and certainly helped but this recipe should be tested and tasted again b/c something is a miss. A waste of time, effort and money. :(

My two sons and husband do not like dark meat on turkey or chicken but they really like it in this recipe. I have a large slow cooker and I can just about get the lid on when I make it and yet I have very little left after we have this for dinner. It is really delicious. I have made it several times and will continue to make it. However I did add more Allspice and Garlic but left out the Chiles and Cumin. I used Parsley since I really do not buy Cilantro and add 1/2 cup of dried Cranberries to make-up for the Apricots which I was out of. I also add a little Chicken Broth because we really do like extra sauce and a couple of diced potatoes (skins on.

Sometimes, if it's not thick enough I'll add a little corn starch to it.

It seems I can't make enough of this recipe.

This is a wonderful recipe!! I changed a few things though

Added a little chicken stock (since I was away and wanted to guarantee it did not dry out
Added a little tomato paste (apx 2tbs (have some in that metallic squeeze tube, so it was easy
Used 2 Turkey drumsticks - but wished there was more meat to vegetables when done
Used 1.5 onions, and less Squash (my cooker is a 6 quart - and it was not all going to fit
Made more of a gremolata than a cilantro sauce (since I don't have a food processor, by hand chopping everything- increasing the garlic, adding 2 dried apricots, lemon zest in addition to the juice, 1/4 cup of golden raisins chopped, and a handful of dried chopped cranberries, and only using about 1/4 cup of oil. It resulted in something between a gremolata and a salsa, we liked it :-
