Normally I like Bobby Flay's recipes, but this one I didn't. The crust was to labor intensive and the flavor didn't have that bold Flay signature to it. I also made the Casserole Queens' recipe and the family liked it much better.

The proportions of liquid to dry ingredients are way off for the crust. I followed the recipe word for word, but the 'dough' was a bowl of mush. I also had to add double the flour to try and save it. At least the filling was good. I'm a big Flay fan, but something is not right with this recipe.

I saw the throw down and thought it would be good. It took over an hour to do all the prep. The "crust" never came together enough to roll out, even with twice the amount of flour. I used potatoes, partially precooked them and cut them into cubes, thinking they would finish in the pan, nope. I cooked it on a baking dish for 25 minures. the crust stayed doughy, the potatoes were still hard. How on earth would turnips cook if the were only blanched? This recipe is rated easy. I think that is misleading. There is no way a novice would be able to follow the on line directions, or lack there of and be successful.

I'm not really a big chicken pot pie fan but this is really good, however I did tweek it a bit - I used potatos instead of turnips, skipped the chipotle seasoning & i baked it with the crust (not pre-baked like they state in the recipe it's been my experience that it's better to follow the show version of the recipe as opposed to the web site version - if you saw the episode Bobby added chipotle seasoning to the filling mixture but it was omitted from the web site version.
