My neighbors and I exchange cookies instead of gifts and I made these last year and they loved them. If you do not have meringue powder use 3 egg whites instead - it will work just as well. Do not bake for the whole 10 minutes I did 6-7 minutes per batch.

In the directions it says to chill dough for 15 minutes....is this AFTER I've cut them out and put them on the sheets? Do I chill the whole cookie sheet and then put it into the oven cold? This is my first time trying this recipe. HELP

I heard about this great tip that I used when making these cookies. Roll your dough out on lightly floured parchment paper and cut the cookies out right on the paper. Remove the excess dough and put the parchment paper directly on your cookie sheets and bake. This way you don't have to move the cut out cookies after they are cut out which helps keep them from getting distorted and losing their shape. These cookies look beautiful when decorated!

These take a while to make, but I really like the flavor of the cookies. They look really pretty too.
