I tried this recipe for the first time today for my christmas cookies. The almond extract gives this cookie that extra kick. Love it! I use alot of your recipes and get alot of good comments.(Of course! I will Definetly use this recipe again and again and again.Dough was easy to work with. I did not leave my cookies in the oven for as long as it says,6 or 7 minutes for my oven. Thanks for a great sugar cookie recipe. I know I will use these for Valentine's Day,St. Patrick's Day,etc..I always tell my husband If ever we are in Savannah, I hope to get to meet you. I think you are the most down home person!

Used these for a cookie baking/decorating party with novices. Wonderful dough... easy to work with. Everyone had fun cutting them out in various shapes (not just snowflakes and decorating them with royal icing. The guests nibbled on a few of their pieces of art before taking platefuls home, and said how delicious they were. Mentioned that it was Paula Deen's recipe. They asked if it had the requisite stick of butter, and I replied, "Two!" Have fun giving these and enjoy a few yourself in moderation! Can't wait 'til next Christmas!

I like to think of myself as a good baker and over the years have become known for my cranberry biscotti and pecan sandies - but after this year, I think I will be known for Paula's sugar cookies! These are so very much like the cookies we used to make with our mother (from Georgia!, and all of the friends I have given them to have raved about them. The trick is to work fast with the dough and refrigerate the cookies, the dough and all the scraps as you are working. They are well worth the effort and I will be making heart shaped ones for Valentine's Day in '09.

    OHHH so yummy!
The almond extract made the normal sugar cookie seem so blahhh! It gives them a sweet holiday kick. I really didnt even have to keep them stored just kept them on a plate and they got all ate up. They didnt cruble like sugar cookies usually do. It was even easy for my 2 yr old to decorate them. They were a little more on the crunchy side, not very soft. But i liked them. I love a good crisp cugar cookie. OH they are great with coffee to!

I go to Paula for cookies because they are really really good. The almond extract is fab albeit somewhat overwhelming. I baked for the time instructed and found that the cookies to be hard, a minute or two less might be the key. I only rerolled the dough 2x and then refrigerated the scraps-worked just fine. Her Mexican Wedding Cookie is out of this world too.

I used just the dough in this recipie, they turned out great, although they didn't hold their shape perfectly. The edges were a little rounded. The thing I liked best about them was that I re-rolled the scraps several times to make more cookies and they all turned out good. The trick is to chill the dough each time, even the scraps.

I LOVE Paula Deen and when I saw this recipe I couldn't wait to make them! I'm trying to make them by sunday, but i don't know where to find the silver dragees, sparkling sugar etc. does anyone have any ideas on where to get them? I live by a Meijers, Walmart, Kroger and a Target but i don't know if they would carry them.
