We loved these rolls! They were so easy and I will make them again. They were perfect and everyone else liked them! I put some in my freezer for later.

I decided to try these out since I am looking for a good wheat roll. I dissolved the yeast in the warm milk instead of mixing it in with the flour. I also added 2 tablespoons of honey. They had some potential but were too dry. If you are looking for a soft moist roll that is similar to a white roll don't pick this recipe. But if you are ok with a dry typical wheat roll these are great.

Made these and they were very dry. I guess that's what I get when I opt for whole wheat over bread flour. They weren't really that bad, just too dense and dry and not what I was hoping for.

Barbara, it sounds like your yeast was dead which may be because it was too old (be sure to check the expiration dates on the package or more likely, your water was too hot when you put in the yeast. The water shouldn't be over 115 or 110 just to be safe or you can kill the yeast. If you didn't take the temperature of your water that is most likely the problem. Hope that helps!

I followed the recipe to a "T". Didn't make one change. When I rolled them, they looked fine, but after cooking, they flattened out like a cookie. Any advice what I may have done wrong?

this is the best recipe I ever tried. The bread comes out very soft, moist and tastes great! Some whole wheat bread recipes I have tried usually comes out dry or hard, but this one is not the case. I highly recommend this recipe.

very delicious. the extra fiber and vitamins from the wheat germ was a nice surprise crunch. still soft and chewy the kids didn't know what hit them. would love to add sprouted wheat to it the next time or even sun flower seeds. the perfect base recipe to start from but good enough to leave alone as well. a keeper
