Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups grits
  • 6 cups boiling water
  • 4 ounces unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • Worcestershire sauce, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Slowly cook the grits in boiling water for 20 minutes. (If you use instant grits, do not cook 20 minutes. Cook according to package directions.) Add the butter, cheese, salt, Tabasco, eggs and Worcestershire sauce. Pour into a buttered casserole.

Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until puffed, golden, and set in the middle.

I watched these girls when they were regulars on FN and fell in love with their exciting approach to food. Sorry when their show stopped but we know the Border Grill in Vegas. I make this Grits recipe on cold, wintery NY Sundays and this is a must have recipe if you love grits. I cut it in half for the two of us and we still have some left. It is so easy and wonderfully satisfying. Their citrus viniagrette with lime is delicious too and a copy is in my "Favorites" folder with this one. Thank you Mary Sue & Susan for the great times back in the '90's. Miss you!!!!
