This recipe looked really interesting and a new twist on plain old man and cheese. It was amazing! I lightened it up in a few ways and it was still stellar. I substituted both the half and half and the heavy cream for fat free evaporated milk and the pasta for whole wheat elbows. For the cheese, I used 2% cheddar and waited until the last second to put the cheese on top because the 2% cheese tends to melt weird. Instead of sour cream, I used fat free sour cream and wheat bread for the croutons and it turned out great! My friends and co-workers absolutely loved it! Healthy and delicious.

Made this recipe today...in other reviews people commented on this dish having too much cheese. I agree. The melted cheese on top came out too firm and there was not enough liquid to make it creamy. The flavor however was wonderful. Next time I will melt down the cubed cheeses and use less cheese on top. The croutons were a nice addition.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! This recipe is so amazing! I LOVED it!! It tastes alot like the mac & cheese from Morton's Steakhouse. I could never figure out what made Morton's mac & cheese so special. Now I know exactly what it is...PEPPERJACK CHEESE! Thank you so much Sunny! Going to try the pan fried meatloaf from this same episode tomorrow. Stand by!...

I had never made homemade mac and cheese before until I tried this recipe on Christmas day. Everyone including myself thought it was amazing, creamy and with just enough spice! Thanks for the great recipe!!

I made this recipt for Thanksgiving this year. This was my and my boyfriends first Thanksgiving together and away from the family so I wanted to make it special. I really want to make homemade MAC and Cheese because I have always got the store brought ones and they don't tast every good anymore. Maybe when I was a kid. I followed the directions step by step and it came out great. My boyfriend wants me to make it for Christmas which is nice to hear. There is cheese in every single bite. I never had MAC and Cheese like this and to think I made it. Thanks Sunny for this great recipe.

I must have did something wrong with this recipe. It was very running once you scooped it out. Maybe I should have used a large pan, could be that the pan was to small and it didn't allow the cream to evaporate enough. And flavoring wise, it was fine, but could use more salt.
