i haven't tried the recipe yet but i wanted to be fair and give the average rating. to the people who said the dish was soupy, you need to let it set when you take it out of the oven. this mac n cheese is like a custard. if you cut into it to soon, it's runny. i've been making mac n cheese for years and my recipe is very similar to this one. my difference with this one is i use 2 cups of milk instead of the heavier stuff like half and half and cream. so, if i use milk and she uses a little thicker creams, you really should let it set a bit before cutting in to it.

This is one of my top 2 favorite macaroni and cheese recipes. It was really cheesy and the perfect amount of spice. I was afraid it might be too spicy but it wasn't. It was warm and the croutons were delicious. I was afraid I wouldn't like them since I don't like bread crumbs on my macaroni but everything was perfect.

I had added a little minced garlic and grated onion to make it my own and I'll definetly be making this recipe often.

being a big macaroni fan, I thought this was good but not great. It wasn't very spicy, but thats OK. Any pasta with cheese isn't going to be hard to get down, but I like my macaroni creamier. Probably wouldn't make it again.

The reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 was because I didn't add the cayenne pepper I'm not really a spicy girl and I left off the bread. But this came out perfect! This is my new favorite mac and cheese recipe. For those who said it was runny you should check how much liquids you add or just add more flour that will make it thicker. Maybe next time I'll live on the edge and try it with the cayenne. Thanks Sunny!

I'm a huge fan of mac & cheese, but I seldom make it for myself. I saw Sunny make this recipe was intrigued with the idea of adding pepperjack cheese. Tried it. Loved it. Will make it again. Thanks, Sunny.

Finally! I've been trying to make homemade real-deal mac and cheese for so long and have kept threatening to just give up. All the ones I've tried have produced a gritty cheese sauce or a noncheesy, noncreamy, bland brick of pasta. Until now. This stuff is amazing! And so EASY! I did make a few minor adjustments, like using medium shells and a pinch extra of all spices called for, and threw in a little smoked paprika and a shot of Louisiana hot sauce. I also topped mine with crumbled crispy bacon and caramelized red onions, in addition to the bread croutons, to which I threw in a little chopped fresh chive and rosemary. I did the bacon and onion because I was serving this as a main dish, and I live with a carnivore who cannot eat a meal without meat. Overall, this is a keeper, delicious and perfect in every way. One thing is that this dish is exceptionally rich with a lot of cheese and a rich cream sauce. Of course, that is also why it is so delicious and satisfying. As a side dish, minus the bacon topping, perhaps not quite so smack-you-in-the-face rich. In any case, definitely a winner and a keeper! Ooey, gooey, creamy, cheesy goodness! Comfort food unhinged.

I made this for a dinner party and it was an absolute HIT! I've wanted to make it ever since I saw the episode but was a bit leary because of the amount of ingredients. Low and behold it all comes together to make an undeniably delicious 'spicy' twist on good ol mac and cheese! I ended up emailing the recipe to all my dinner guests and will most certainly be make it again soon!

I love to try different mac and cheese recipes, and this one is on the top of my list! My husband and step-daughter raved about it. Mine wasn't runny at all. I cut back on the cayenne pepper since I was feeding it to a 7 yr old, but I think I could have used what the recipe recommended. Great job Sunny!!!

I have made many recipes listed on the Food Network for Mac and Cheese and this is by far the best. Very rich and flavorful. I did decrease the cayenne and mustard slightly. Will make again and again.
