I didn't use frozen veggies but steamed some fresh broccoli in it's place. I will definitely make it again but next time will use more squash. I started with 4 cups raw and it barely covered the other ingredients. Hubby thought it wasn't bad even though he really doesn't like ground turkey. I will have to put more spices for him next time. :

Because my husband and I are trying to eat more healthy after the holidays, I dicided to try this recipe. I was not sure if my husband would like it since he doesn't much care for vegetables. I did use cut up cooked carrots and green beans for the vegetables, but otherwise did not alter from the recipe. Both my husband and I were pleasently suprised at how good it was. We both agreed we will have it again.

I think it needed more seaoning. I think the acorn squash was too sweet for this. I think I would try it again using mashed cauliflower-seasoned more like the mashed potatoes in the original version of Shepard's Pie.

This is a really healthy and tasty alternative to traditional sheppard's pie. I added a shake of garlic and onion powder as well as about 1 tsp of sage to the squash when I mashed it. Even my picky husband loved this one.

Very good, love ground turkey recipes, and butternut squash is also my favorite, DO NOT know how you can give a recipe 3 stars that you have changed all around, that is my pet peeve on this comment section, if you are gonna change it all around then it is not right to give less then 5 stars, it is not the actual recipe and is no help to anyone on the recipe that is presented by the chef~~~~~thanks HG for recipes that are simple and ingredients everyone has access to on a daily basis........

I used ground chicken breast, 99% fat free, don't have to drain anything cause there is no fat in pan. Ground chicken breast is only 360 calories for the whole pound cooked, much better than using lean ground turkey. (lean ground turkey has more fat than lean ground beef! so be careful if you are watching fat. I also tend to use the low salt and fat cambells cream of mushroom soup, mixed with some fat free half and half for gravy. (just take a few spoons and mix a little of the ff half and half very good
