I have been trying out new recipes for when my husband gets home from Iraq. I saw this one on the show a few months ago so I got the recipe and finally decided to try it to see if my husband might like it when he gets home. I had it with stuffing, and I thought it was absolutely delicious! My neighbor tried it as well. She hates apples, and even she raved about it! I did think there was a little too much thyme. Next time I will try 1 teaspoon of thyme instead. I also want to try it with bacon in it. Overall, I thought it was an excellent dish!!

I have made Apple Chicken before so I'm not a stranger to it. However, when I saw the recipe with the apple cider, I said to myself, "hmmm, this is different" and I tried it. It came out absolutely delicious and my family loved it! Yes, I did a little tweaking with the recipe , but I basicly stuck with the ingredients. Its a great fall dish and it's healthly . I would recomend this dish to anyone who is looking for a great comfort dish.

I'm usually not a fan of cooked apples so I was skeptical when I made this recipe but boy am I glad I did. It was the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. This is the perfect cold fall meal!

This recipe is the best. Everyone in my family, including the kids, loved this chicken dish. I decided to make more than 4 chicken breast (because we are a family of 5 and used more apple cider than it called for so that we could use the sauce with our mashed potaotes. Aslo, I used more apples as one apple just did not seem like enough for all the chicken.
I read the previous reviews before I prepared this and I notice someone mention BALSAMIC VINAGER. We tied it both ways, with the BV and without. It was delicious without it, however the balsamic vinager added that extra kick we believe it needed.
I highly recommend this dish and think it would be great at the holidays with some cranberries and served with stuffing.

this chicken was tasty, and different. i used quite a bit of salt on the chicken. also, after reading some reviews that the chicken did not have enough zing, i added 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar to the onion mixture while cooking- that was a good addition. very good; pretty easy to prepare.

saw the program, read the reviews, added to the recipe:
    fresh ground cinnamon & nutmeg.....
threw in some mushrooms & a splash of good balsamic vinegar.......
    give it a great taste!

I'm glad to see that there is someone new on food network that has quick hearty meals like this one! The only thing I changed to this reciped is that I used a spiced apple cider, which gave it a background cinnamon and nutmeg flavor that was very good! I will be making this again, and look forward to more of Sunny's recipes!

I made this recipe exactly as she did, and it came out ok. It was tasty enough, but I was expecting more of an apple tang, since apple cider is tangy. If I make it again I will use at least twice the amount of apple, and experiment with apple cider vinegar or something. It was definitely a down home comfort meal; I served it with yukon gold mashed potatoes on a rainy night. Would have been good with some stuffing too! Worth trying...

This is a great recipe! I saw this recipe on tv and thought I would try it. I have made it many times since then and usually add jasmine rice or coconut rice as a side. My friends and family have all liked this one! It's a keeper!
