This came out yummy- I'm bringing them to a potluck at work, and my husband and I taste-tested them tonight. Mine also puffed up a bit, and I put a little more in each empanada (more like 3 heaping tablespoons. Definitely worth it to get the premade dough, and not expensive, either.

This receipe was reallly flavorful. I found it to be easier than I thought. I just know the second time will be much easier and faster (less to over think. I may have cooked them a little too long as they were too crunchy (but that's my fault
I did not have all the ingredients in my cupboard, so I searched high and low, the ethnic section of the local store has most of the items. Now in retro-spect, i may not have spent so much on spices that I didnt have, but now I do so here we are!
    Thanks Sunny!

I just don't understand the confusion of this recipe. If you can't find the item, you can always try the recipe without the one single item and futher more if you look up the item you'll see that it's a type of salt (with MSG added to it. I actually did not use sazon since I know that it was MSG and made this recipe and it came out really good. I also agree that you should not rate a recipe when you haven't made the food since it throws the rating value for people who didn't try the recipe.

Why not ask in your local or special grocery store what something is or if they carry it. Asking a question on here and giving it 1 star gives the impression this was a terrible recipe. I plan to make this recipe for an upcoming party but was having second thoughts we I saw the 1 stars.

It's a Goya product. You might be able to find it in the latin section of your grocery store or you could try a latin market.
