The concept is a good one (what's not to love about chocolate with banana but much is left to be desired. My main complaints: bland, too sweet, the chunks of mushy hot bananas are not appetizing, and the ramekins MUST be put into a water bath or you get a quiche-like consistency instead of custard-like. I modified the recipe and came up with a delicious easy dessert that everyone at my dinner party loved. In a blender, add the bananas, all the custard ingredients (cream, vanilla, yolks, half the brown sugar, and sea salt to taste. Add a bit of madeira if you have it. Poor it all into the ramekins and follow the baking instructions but be sure to put the ramekins into a water bath. After they're done and cooled, put them into the refrigerator. The color is not very appealing so I added homemade whipped cream on top with shavings of chocolate and chopped roasted hazelnuts. The whipped cream on top also made it much more creamy.

I doubled the recipe and made in a souflee dish. I had to increase the bake time to set the custard and the top browned, and did not look too pretty. So I would do the individual ramekins next time for sure. Boy was it good!!! Recipe perfect as is; whipped the rest of the heavy cream and served with.

I think this recipe works best with improvisation.
I didn't have any trouble with the recipe and I didn't use exact measurements so I'd agree that this recipe is "easy".
That being said, I used very little lemon zest and still thought it was too much. But I'm not a big lemon fan. I used a very ripe banana and mashed it with the brown sugar. I used pecans instead of peanuts and was very sparing with the mini chocolates.
I also used a small casserole dish instead of several ramikins and served it like christmas pudding. SPLOT! It wasn't pretty but MAN did it taste great.
Taking one star away for having to improvise.

Made this last night. The only thing I did different is substituted the peanuts for walnuts as I did not have any. It tasted very good. It's very sweet and creamy. This recipe is for keeps. I would definitely make it again.

Sunny: My lady watches your show all the time. For our first Valentines Day she decided to compliment Guy's Blackenen Catfish, The Neely's Twice Baked Sweet Potato, and Big Daddy's Rabe Brocoli with this recipe as one of the two desserts. I had to tell somebody. Looking for a way to suprise her Food Network Style. I am baffled by the nay sayers. Keep up the good work!

This looked so yummy on TV, but it was way too sweet and I didn't like the nuts. I thought it would make a nice valentine desert but no one liked it. Sugar is added to every aspect of this recipe and it wasn't necessary. Plus, peanuts are not my favorite.
