i first did this dish because i was curious. I was not a fan of creamed spinach until now. This recipe is yummy. I chose not to use the nutmeg, i really don't even use it in pies. However i love spicy soooo, i remade this dish with some love. I added one large seeded jalapano pepper, two strips of crisp and crumbled bacon, kraft five cheese mix. I cooked i followed the directions until adding the spinach part. I cooked my bacon til crisp, drained and crumbled them. IN the pan with the bacon fat, i cooked a half of onion and jalapano until the onion was translucent. i added the spinach and bacon, and cooked it all for about 4-5 min mixing it with all the rest of the goodies in the pan with salt, pepper and more red pepper flakes. I finished the dish according to recipe and mixed in the five cheese mix. Finished off dish with french fried onions and the parm. and cooked for the 30 min. this dish is xtra yummy. My kids went wild even the one child that does not like veggies.

I loved this dish. The creamy and crispy texture was perfection. It is pretty spicy, so next time I will half the pepper flakes.

Since seeing this show almost two weeks ago, I've made the dish twice. Once for my family, who gave it rave reviews. The second time was for a grill-out at a friend's house...also rave reviews.

LOVE this recipe. And I love the compliments I received for making it!

Fyi - Based on other comments I did proactively reduce the red pepper to 3/4 tsp and that was perfect for all our taste buds. I could probably handle more - I wanna sweat when I eat, baby! - but 3/4 tsp was plenty for my family and friends.

Thanks, Sunny. Yours is the only FN show I regularly watch!

2t red pepper flakes is definitely a typo. 1/2t was right for us. Good, but VERY rich. Will make again, but reserve for special occasions. Might try to cut back a little: substitute 1/2 and 1/2 for cream etc. Also, use less cheese if using real Parmigianno-Reggiano. I just left out the onions.

I PREPARED THIS RECIPE FOR A LARGE GROUP AND EVERYONE RAVED ABOUT IT. IT IS SO FLAVORFUL AND EASY TO MAKE. I AM SO GLAD THAT I WAS WATCHING YOUR SHOW WHEN YOU MADE THIS. I WOULD NEVER HAVE EVEN LOOKED FOR A CREAMED SPINACH RECIPE BUT NOW IT WILL BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE SIDE DISHES.

This was just delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I read the reviews about the red pepper flakes and decided to just use a large pinch instead of the 2 tsp as called for in the recipe. My fiance and I are not fans of super-spicy food; I added the amount that I thought we would be able to handle. I would not advise anyone to omit the red pepper flakes entirely (unless they are allergic to it, of course, as I think that having it adds a great subtle kick. I also love the addition of nutmeg. This recipe is a keeper! :
