I give it a thumbs up ! I just tried the recipe and it came out so yummy ! The crust was perfect and mine held together and didn't crumble like what I saw on the show. The hazel cream gave it an extra flavor. I lost track of the cooking time, 35 minutes was not long enough. I had to add 15 minutes two times. I think what I will do next time is bake it for one hour at 350 degrees. I am ready to make this again a day before Thanksgiving. I just wanted to make sure that it will come out perfect and that my guests would love it - and I think they will. I printed the recipe to give away. Thanks Sunny - I love this recipe !

Its funny how different some peoples comments can be. Im always looking for something good and easy! Im not one to mess with a real pumpkin I just dont have the time. When I saw this I had to try it.But I have to confess I didnt have the hazelnut powder creamer so I used the liquid in the crust and the fiiling. My crust was not soggy at all ,it was great I did have to cook it longer than 35min as well. I wll make this again. Thanks have a great Thanksgiving Wendy

While I loved the recipe Sunny shared on this episode of Turkey Day Disasters, I was disappointed that she shared a recipe for pumpkin pie made with canned pumpkin. I leaned how to cook my pumpkin fresh years ago and now swear by fresh baked pumpkin for all my fall cooking that includeds pumpkin.

She said go ahead and use the canned pumpkin as no one will know if you don't tell them. I disagree. My family always knows when I get in a hurry and use canned pumpkin.

I would loved to have seen the e-mailer's question answered by showing how to cook a fresh pumpkin without burning it. I love to cook pumpkin this time of year. It smells wonderful (just sprinkle some cinnamon and all spice or ginger on the pan while it bakes for more aroma and it warms up the house on a perfect chilly Autumn day.

I really don't like any of her recipes. She has a strange love of all things GMO (genetically modified foods. They don't taste the same, they don't perform the same and they are unsafe. Who wants the genetics of their corn products crossed with genetics from roaches, mites and other strange things. Give me organic. I don't like Sunny's approach.

I saw this on the Turkey Day disasters episode and it looked easy and good. I made it in just a few minutes with my teenage daughter. She also said it was easy!
After baking and cooling, it cut beautifully, the crust held together (it kinda crumbled on the show.., and most importantly, it was deliicious!!
I think after feasting on the rest of the dinner, this will be a nod to the traditional yet light enough to maybe even have seconds. Yum.
The center is smooth, velvety and not too sweet. The crust is earthy, rustic and almost savory while still being dessert.
Recipe tips: I took out the hazelnut creamer because I wanted "pure" pumpkin taste, so I don't really know what the real recipe tastes like. Also, my oven is very slow, so it took not 35 minutes but almost an hour to not jiggle in the center.
    I recommend making this one!!!

I am very glad that i saw this show on tv when the pie was made because the recipe simply calls for hazelnut creamer. Please be aware that it is powder creamer that you need. Had I not seen the show i very well would have used liquid creamer as it is what i keep on hand, and i am certain the results would not be pretty as far as the crust is concerned. I hope this prevents someone from making a soggy crust.
