I have tried the oxtail recipe from another food network host, who will remain nameless, and it was a disaster. It had no flavor. I made this one and O my goodness. It is so flavorful and spicy. Yum, yum.

I love love LOVE Sunny! I have never cooked oxtails before, but the are one of my Indonesian husband's favorite things. His aunt makes an oxtail stew that he loves, so I had a challenge to make a great one, too. With this recipe - it worked!! My husband gobbled it up and sucked the bones dry!!! Only a couple variations: I only used 2 tsp of paprika because I had smoked on hand and not hot (I feel like the smoked paprika gives off a much stronger flavor and aroma. Also, filling up the pot to cover the oxtails the first time was actually the only time I added liquids - it didn't need it all after that. I filled the pot with a cup of broth, a cup of red wine (Merlot, and topped the oxtails off with water. I think the wine adds a little complexity to the flavors and goes great with the meat. I did use low-sodium broth, but I only added 1 more teaspoon of salt towards the end instead of the 2 (I guess it depends on how much water vs broth you put in. I don't usually eat lima beans, but in this stew I sure loved them! I think next time I make this, however, I'll cut the amount down a bit and add some carrots. Thank you, Sunny - I look forward to making this again!!

We give this recipe no stars. It did not taste good and the oxtails were pretty expensive. The meat was well done abd it was very spicey and we do like spicey. Sorry!!

wow, this was great. my family is from jamaica and my aunt vee always made the best oxtail. i always wondered how she made that thick creamy gravy. this recipe was wonderful. my husband who HATES EVERYTHING NEW loved this. He usually only eats ribs or chicken fingers. My 3 year old and 1.5 year old just said "hmmm" with every bite. Thanks, this will be a staple in our home.

Sunny,
Love your show and the oxtail recipe was excellent. I am in the process of relocating and can't wait to spring this on my girlfriend that thinks she does not like oxtails but loves short ribs of beef. I followed the recipe to the letter and am about to start the side dishes.
Keep doing what you do.
