This is the worst mess I've had since I was a new bride. Waay too much gooey stuff in the top, batter is way too thick, the goo is cooking out all over my NEW oven. Grrr. What a mess! Can't imagine how it's going to taste, it's all over my oven now.
Saw this on a Help Me! show and I'm sure glad this wasn't the answer to MY problem. I'd be furious!

He gives it 5 solid stars. I thought it was just ok. I didn't care for the spice taste or the walnuts. To me they didn't seem to "go" with pineapple upside down cake. The batter was very thick and hard to spread over the brown sugar and pineapple rings, but it was fine after baking and made a pretty presentation.

I bake A LOT, and let me tell you, this cake is GOOD! Although I did make some adjustments. FYI, all the ingredients do NOT fit in an 8 inch iron skillet, so I used a 10 inch baking pan and it turned out just perfect. I also left out the cloves because it has a tendency to give a slightly bitter taste. Also, for the initial ingredients used for the toppings (the butter and dark brown sugar I used about 2/3 of the suggested amounts. Using the original amount would make the cake to wet and make it fall apart.
This cake is definitely on my list of favorites !
